Alex Burns
Alex discovered a passion for running through high school track and later used it for conditioning in college. What started as a necessity became a rewarding hobby, with races fueling a deeper commitment to the sport.
Once an overweight kid, Alex found that sports and cardio were key to a healthier lifestyle. Running is now a way to push limits, build stamina, and find motivation beyond team sports like football, track, and Quidditch.
When not running, Alex enjoys hiking, football, golf, and exploring the PNW’s great outdoors—always seeking new challenges and adventures.

Brittiany Olberg
Growing up, Brittiany hated running. Now, that past fuels a drive to conquer every race as a personal challenge—proof of overcoming what once felt impossible. Running has brought physical, mental, and emotional triumphs, making each finish line an accomplishment worth celebrating.
A busy mom, spouse, employee, full-time nursing student, and Student Nursing Organization officer, Brittiany still makes time for running because it inspires and motivates. No Olympic speed, no perfect runner’s physique—just determination, heart, and a love for the journey. Whether running solo or with loved ones, every stride is a reminder that anything is possible.
Favorite SRC Event: Mill Town Marathon

Pammy Thorp
I have 4 boys so my life is chaotic and constantly busy and taking care of myself is last on the list of priorities. I run for my mental and physical health and to be honest, I loathed people like me years ago but now I’m hoping to inspire others to change. I was overweight, kept making excuses for myself and looking for a way out of misery and unhappiness. So, instead of making more excuses, I decided to do something about it and I went for walks instead. Then it turned into power walking, then jogging, then running. I was hooked! It cleared my mind, I slept better, my knees didn’t hurt so bad, and I was losing weight. Win-win all around! I just wish I had done it earlier. My kids asked me the other day what I think about when I’m running and I said “It depends on the day. I’m either running towards tacos and margaritas or running away from you guys!”
Favorite SRC Event: Evergreen Half

Taryn Hynek
Taryn is a dog mom to two lovable bulldogs—Abby (English) and Rascal (Frenchie)—and a commercial plumber by trade. A dedicated runner, she has completed three full marathons and participated in multiple relay ultras. Before COVID, Taryn was a regular at Orange Theory, hitting the gym 6-7 days a week. When the pandemic temporarily shut down her gym, she turned to trail running and instantly fell in love with it. During the winter months, she switched to road running, which led her to discover the 50/100/150 challenge hosted by Snohomish Running Company (SRC).Determined to run every route and log as many miles as possible, Taryn climbed to second place in the challenge—all while running solo. No one at SRC knew her yet, but that changed when she decided to join a group for the final and longest route. That run transformed her life.Since then, Taryn has been running with SRC for over three years, participating in every race and volunteering at almost all of them. Many of her PRs were set on SRC courses, and through the group, she has built lifelong friendships and connections in the running community. Her journey with SRC began with one challenge, one route, one group run, and it has since become an irreplaceable part of her life. Now, as an SRC ambassador, she’s proud to give back to the community that has given her so much!

Hiral Das
Hi, I’m Hiral Das! I work at Seattle Children’s Hospital, am married, and a proud mom of two (7 and 3). Originally from India, I moved to Seattle in 2011 and feel incredibly fortunate to call the beautiful PNW home. I love outdoor running and traveling with family and friends.
Running is more than just a sport for me—it’s a source of joy, a way to challenge myself, and a path to becoming a better version of who I am. I train year-round, either solo, with friends, or alongside local run clubs, and have completed races of various distances, from 5Ks to multiple half marathons. In 2014, my husband and I ran our first half marathon together, a milestone that deepened my passion for the sport.
Beyond the personal challenge, it’s the incredible running community and the energy of race day that inspire me the most. I hope to pass on my love for running to my children and encourage them to embrace the sport. I’m thrilled to be part of the SRC Ambassador team this year and look forward to running, volunteering, and connecting with fellow runners at upcoming events!

Veronika Basanets

Brian Lohr
Brian’s running journey began in 2012 when his mom asked him to train for a marathon with her. He once dreaded running—his high school mile PR was over 10 minutes—but through persistence and dedication, he transformed from struggling through a 5+ hour marathon to running a 2:51 marathon at the Snohomish River Run, which also earned him a Boston qualification.
For Brian, running is about pushing his limits, spending time outdoors, and connecting with friends. His favorite SRC events include the Snohomish River Run, where he achieved a milestone he never thought possible, and the Holiday on the Bay 5K, which he’s won twice.
Beyond running, Brian and his wife are foster parents, currently caring for four kids, including a 2-month-old baby. Balancing family life with training isn’t easy, but he continues to challenge himself and inspire others to see how far they can go.

Raj Shukla
After relocating to Seattle from the east coast for a job, I started with CrossFit and my coach suggested that I sign up for a half marathon. I had never run more than 2miles, running a 13.1 seemed like an uphill battle. I started running with friends and getting somewhat ‘comfortable with discomfort’. The training process got me more disciplined with my recovery and nutrition which helped with my overall fitness. My cardiovascular endurance improved significantly which reflected in my CrossFit and Squash skills. Having run a few half marathons, I love running in groups with friends and taking in all that the beautiful PNW has to offer along the way.

Christopher Johnson
A recent transplant to the area, Christopher is eager to dive into the local running community. His journey began as a way to improve his mental health, but after becoming a father, running took on a new purpose—setting a healthy example for his kids.
His biggest inspiration? His wife and children. Running helps him be the best version of himself, both physically and mentally, so he can always be there for them. He believes that when motivation fades, running for someone else makes quitting much harder.
Christopher’s favorite SRC event is the Snohomish River Run, which became even more special when his brother flew up from Texas to run it with him. As a Community Transit bus driver, he loves that running is an accessible way to stay active, clear his mind, and maintain a healthy balance.
Though he may not be the most active on social media yet, Christopher is excited to share his journey, connect with the community, and inspire others to lace up and join the running lifestyle!

Lisa Ibanez
My running journey began 15 years ago in my hometown of Miami, when I began training in the hot, humid Summer for the Chicago Half-Marathon. From that point on, I was hooked on the discipline, mental toughness, and copious carb loading that comes with long distance running. I’ve completed 5 half-marathons and several trail runs including last year’s beautiful Snohomish River Run. My fave running spots are parks and trails in Bothell/Mill Creek, SLU, and Green Lake. When I am not running, I’m bringing in a little strength with CrossFit, a little flair with dance classes, and a little joy with ice cream shop hopping!

I’ve been a runner my whole life but had fallen out of it in my late 20’s. When Covid hit I needed an excuse to get outside and interact with people so I started running again. I also run multiple Ragnar races every year and have done a few Spartan races. Right now, I’m focused on completing the World Marathon Majors.
