I am a mom of two amazing boys who are now in college and excelling! After many years of helping them achieve their goals and being their cheerleader, they now love to hear about my running achievements. I hope that they might run a race or two with me in the future. I teach 6th grade in Renton, WA, and enjoy helping my students understand the importance of goals—yep, running helps with that too! They ask me every Monday where I have run and how I did. I am very excited about this upcoming track season because they have asked me to run with them!  Both my students and my boys laugh at my self-professed Disney Nerd status.

I started running in August of 2015 because of a conversation that I had at a family picnic. My cousin and I were talking how we would love to run a Disney Race. After getting home she bombarded my FB feed with advertisements for the Tinkerbell Half Marathon in May, next thing I knew I had paid for the race and wondered what the heck I had done. I had never run before and had always been told that I couldn’t. I found a local 10K called the Snohomish River Run. This was my first organized race in 2015, and I used my time for a good corral placement for Disney. I completed that half in May of 2016. I said that I would slow down running after that, but I soon discovered the strength that running gave me. Every finish line I cross is a statement that says, “Watch me, I can!”

I have since completed four more half marathons. I am currently working with a nutritionist and a running coach, realizing that I have now made a commitment to this running thing and love what it has done for me.

This year I am teaching STEM 3-5th grade in Federal Way, it’s a dream teaching job for me. I am going on my 4th RunDisney adventure in February with Princess, which will be my tenth half marathon!
